Report Overview
The health and wellbeing of children in the UK is extremely important because what happens in childhood sets an individual鈥檚 life course; and it is important for the NHS, because treating ill children takes up a disproportionate amount of NHS resource, and childhood health/ill health can have a life course impact, with related repercussions for NHS services. It follows that research into child health is necessary and valuable. Yet there is surprisingly little clinician-led (or academic) research undertaken into acute and community child health in the UK, and for community child health the amount of research is dwindling.
This project aimed to understand the facilitators and barriers to clinician-led research in community child health. The project was commissioned by the 91探花 Strategic Research Group, with a view to informing the development of a roadmap to support community child health clinicians and practitioners to engage in impactful community child health research.
